What is Product Backlog?
An ordered list of everything that might be needed to improve the product.
In plain English
It is never finished and changes as you learn. Items near the top are clearer and smaller, items further down are rougher. The Product Owner orders it. The team pulls work from the top into each Sprint, where it becomes the Sprint Backlog.
Example
Items might include a new feature, a bug fix, a technical improvement and an experiment, all in one ordered list.
Easy to confuse with
- Sprint: The backlog is the list of possible work. A sprint is the fixed period in which a chosen part of it is done.
