What is Sprint?
A fixed period of one month or less in which a Scrum team turns chosen work into a usable increment.
In plain English
A new sprint starts as soon as the last one ends. Each sprint contains sprint planning, daily scrums, the work itself, a sprint review and a sprint retrospective. The goal is stable and the length does not change during the sprint, though the scope may be clarified as the team learns.
Example
A team with two-week sprints delivers a working improvement every two weeks and gets feedback on it.
Easy to confuse with
- Product Backlog: A sprint is a time box. The backlog is the list of work.
